Husband and wife Santa and Kabita preparing us dinner. We spent a night at their home in the remote Himalayan village of Baranumber, where all cooking is done old-school style in a smoky wattle-and daub annexe that serves as their kitchen. Food was amazing; so too was the maize wine they distilled on this same stove before our very eyes!

Jamie what is she cooking ??
She was frying up onions, garlic and ginger to make dum aloo whilst her husband was preparing some pork. Yes, anyone who knows me knows I don’t really eat meat but what pork I did eat was exceptional. He skewered chunks onto a square skewer and chucked them in the embers. Fantastic!
I have to rate this as one of the greatest experiences of my life.
