What’s life like in an English canal boat marina?

For twenty years we’ve popped into some glamorous marinas, enjoying luxury swimming pools, cocktails at happy hour and sunset views, so how does an English canal boat marina compare?

We love our new neighbourhood, but it’s quite different. There’s no sea view for starters, and the only swimming we can do is in the canal itself! Still, there are boats on the hard, a travel lift and lots of industry around us, so we feel quite at home. There is even a ‘marina’ section to Staniland, our base, with nicely cut lawns, potting sheds and benches to sit at in the evenings. Not that we’ve been doing much of that yet, it’s a bit early in the year for sundowners.

This is a classic followtheboat walk-and-talk as we take you on a mini tour of our home. What do you think? Could you see yourselves being comfortable here? And what do you think of our new pet?

As always, we love hearing from you, and we wish you well. Have a great weekend!

  1. I’ve been interested in the UK’s canal system for 40 years. I saw it in a magazine in the US. I have never been able to travel to the UK to check it out but I am so happy that you will allow me to see what I’ve been curious about for those 40 years. I joined your Patreon many years ago. I didn’t realize ending my Patreon would remove me from the crew club you had started. So I’ve now rejoined and look forward to watching you as you motor about the English countryside. Happy Travels.
