No depth-sounder, no autopilot. Who cares? We’re sailing!

In this week’s episode, we lose our autopilot and depth sounder, but who cares, we’re sailing!

The last time we lost our steering was 10 years ago across the Indian Ocean. This time, though, we’re coastal cruising, and as seasoned sailors losing the depth sounder as well as the autopilot didn’t phase us. Instead, we have several days of fantastic, fast and quality sailing!

These are some of the topics we cover in the video

  • Sailing west from Komodo Island
  • Oops! Autopilot stopped working!
  • Balancing sails on a ketch
  • We’re sailing at 8kts in Force 6-7
  • Changing plans on the hoof!
  • Sumbawa with no depth reading
  • Anchored at Kilo, Sumbawa
  • Looking for a protected anchorage

Wedding in Kilo, Sumbawa

On shore, we found a couple of typical Indonesian fishing villages including Kilo, where Jamie was lucky enough to stumble across a wedding when he went across to do a little travel/street photography…
