One Year On and Liz’s Book

It’s been a year to the day that we moved onto Happidaze. When we look back over the last 12 months we realise just how many projects we have completed, from the engine, generator, solar, batteries, water filtration and new loo! They’re part of the reason we haven’t moved from our current location.

The main reason our output has slowed is that Liz has been writing a book. But it’s not just any old vanity project about what we did when we went sailing.

Back in 2014, Adlard Coles (the nautical arm of Bloomsbury Publishing) first approached Liz to write a “bible for would-be liveaboard cruisers”. What with one thing and another, it’s taken a while to get going, but now she’s on course to finish it by this spring (publication date TBC).

With such an important project comes huge responsibility; all the facts must be checked and double-checked, so the research has been time-consuming.

Warning! Some of the information churned up by AI each time Liz did a browser search was not just inaccurate but downright dangerous. Please be careful when looking for information, and only use gatekeepers you trust.

Now Jamie is busy putting together a fantastic folder of images for the handbook, and you know they will be outstanding. The reaction from the editorial staff has been incredibly positive, an enormous boost to our morale.

If you have any advice or comments, please don’t be shy; we would love to hear from you.

We discuss all of this in our latest podcast, links to which you can find here. And if you watch the video version, we have a little bonus with some photo overlays, featured in Liz’s book!

If you like our content and would like to support us, we will give you ad-free access to our videos before they go live to the public, discounts in our shop, access to Jamie’s iconic full-res photographs, and supporter-only blog posts. Click our ugly mugs for more info!
