Back to lovely Gümüslük! Hoorah! We sailed into heavy wind and seas and as we rounded the headland spotted a turtle swimming along our starboard side. It was about 2ft and seemed to be happily swimming along next to us for a while. It put a smile on my face to see one of these gorgeous creatures in its natural habitat.
As we neared the entrance to Gümüslük the water was quite rough and it looked as though a small yacht in front of us was having difficulty. We pulled out the binoculars but could not work out exactly what was happening. However, as we came nearer she seemed to be fine, and manned by two intrepid Brits flying the flag and stoically heading for shelter.

We arrived in Gümüslük the day before some people Jamie had met earlier in the Summer had planned their wedding. We spent the evening helping them celebrate pre-nuptially at Gurktan’s gaff. It was great fun and there were lots of people there.
The following day we put on our walking boots again and went for a very long walk around the headland. We climbed up the hill opposite the village and took some stunning views of the whole area. A hard, steep climb, but definitely worth it. Wow, those views inland and out to sea were terrific!
In the evening we joined the wedding party at the church and sang a few hymns with them. It was unusual, but fun. We spent the rest of the evening getting drunk with Gurktan again and heard more about his extraordinary life.
