Catch That Wind Before We Lose It

moodyAnd so onto Esper’s next guests, Ethan and Chris. Chris can lay claim to being the guest who travelled the furthest to sail Esper since both Ethan and Chris hail from the States. Ethan has been living in London for a fair few years now. Neither had been sailing before but that didn’t stop us visiting the most incredible ancient city, getting in a night sail and having the best day’s sail on Esper to date!

When the boys turned up the first thing we did was drink. A lot. The usual introduction to raki culminated in some rude behaviour and a serious hangover. We were aiming to have a day off in Bodrum before heading off on the Monday, but the weather forecast was suggesting very little wind and no sun for the next five days. The only wind we’d have was today so I made the decision to get the **** out of Dodge to make the most of the little wind. Chris and Ethan, therefore, beat Tim’s record of setting off sailing in less than 12 hours of landing!

We made the obvious choice of heading up to Gümüslük, which was to be my last visit of the year. We had a good laugh at Gurktan’s and then spent the next couple of days at anchor, introducing the lads to the delights of Rabbit Island, Limon Cafe and a huge walk up to the highest point in the area that over-looks Gümüslük.
