With the spectacular Indian Ocean bowling waves at the beaches for thousands of miles, there are hundreds of breaks to choose from. We found a secure spot to anchor between three breaks. There were breakers to either side of us, but relative peace where we were able to sit and watch the action.
We were there before the season began, but even at that time there were keen surfers gathered on boats and in surf shacks to catch some of the beautiful waves. This is the epicentre of surfing in the Mentawais, and it was busy at the Kandui Resort.

SY Esper on right between breaks and reefs
We stayed for a couple of days and soaked up the vibe. If we’d stayed any longer Jamie would have been out there wiping out with the best of them!
