[S04E08] Does shining a light on remote communities and pristine islands around the world bring “the wrong kind of tourism”? Is it better to keep these places secret?
Perhaps filming undisturbed locations is ruining travel for the rest of us. So do sailing YouTubers need to think twice before alerting the rest of the world to their existence by filming the remote and secluded locations they visit?
And what about local communities? Do they want tourism or not?
We answer these questions and look further into the wonderful world of influencers who turn their backs on sunsets…
“That’s like blaming National Geographic for global warming, or Cousteau for destroying the reefs. I learned from Cousteau and National Geographic to love the world and take care of it. Could YouTubers do a better job of being responsible? Maybe. But most of the channels I follow show great respect for the people and environments they introduce to their audiences.” – DallasPowwi – FTB DISCORD Community
