There are two reasons why we’re feeling stressed sailing along the coast of northern Sulawesi:
- Worry about the engine and not being in a position to drop the hook if anything should go wrong…
- Navigating this area is not straightforward, the charts don’t make sense…
In these more remote and less-visited places, we have found that Navionics data is often significantly inaccurate. The charts have taken us over land, put us at anchor in the mountains, and given us no warning of an island directly in front of SY Esper. This demonstrates why we always advocate navigating by satellite and eye alongside all the charts (electronic or paper) in the world.
Meanwhile, we are visiting folks back in the UK, and we reckon there are few better ways to spend the weekend than with a bucket and spade at the English seaside…
And with such spectacular weather and arresting views on our mini-break-within-a-break, Jamie took the opportunity to practise his new infrared passion…
More all about the failing charts and our seaside holiday in the video…
