The cat sat on the plait mat

Like most sailing channels, we are quite a long way behind in our coverage on YouTube, so this is where we pick up at the beginning of Millie’s fight to survive against an unknown illness. Little did we know we were in for the long haul and for many more visits over the coming months to a total of four different vets.

One of the great things about marinas is the variety of people you get to know. Staying in one, even for just a day or two, is an opportunity to meet and swap stories with fellow cruisers from all over the world. In this episode we introduce Roy of SV Seven Thunders, an old salty sea-dog if ever there was one.

Roy’s put more ocean miles under his belt than anyone we’ve met and he’s still going strong. As a bosun, he’s very good with showing you the ropes. Here’s a 30sec clip where he demonstrates how to make an ocean mat from one of our old forestay sheets:

Did you get that? Haha!

For more on our Millie (what a perfectly behaved angel she was during those first visits), a tour round the marina to the ‘Sea Horse’ entrance, a few more boat jobs and a full explanation of how to make an ocean plait mat, watch the episode here:

That mat is the perfect place for Millie to sharpen her claws… and yes, the cat sat on the plait mat!

As always, thanks for supporting us and allowing us to share our adventure with you.

Peace and fair winds
