We havent seen any sailing channels brave the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island which has amazing fjords, pristine forests and dramatic waterfalls…with the clearest (cold) water ever! Would you consider including New Zealand in your long term itinerary?!October 27, 2019 at 2:26 pm#41292Brendan TourelleSpectator@sailability
totally agree Alison, be great to see a sailing channel sail around Puysegur Point
fantastic fishing and diving in the fiords too,October 27, 2019 at 4:30 pm#41302LizAdmiral@liz-cleere
Oh we’d LOVE to! Originally the plan was to sail to NZ, but having Millie on board put paid to that particular dream.
Jamie went for a two week holiday there and stayed for three months, that’s how much he loves the country! I’ve never visited but have always wanted to.
Maybe we’ll get to the Norwegian fjords, would that be an OK second choice? 🤔😉

Oh, I LOVED my time in NZ, and the south island is one of the most dramatic places I have ever visited. It was always my intention to take Liz there but as she says, Millie is the main issue. I’m still not ruling out finding a cat-sitter and flying Liz there but that’s not the same as going by boat. NZ can be tough sailing from what I understand but you can’t put a price on that beauty. But remember, a sailor’s plans are written in the sand. Never say never…

Hmm, Sailing to New Zealand is definitely on our bucket list. I have wanted to go all my life and my wife has a brother there and has also been there. Knowing now, that a cat would be a problem is good, thanks for mentioning it.
We have no pets and don’t plan to change that but it is one thing that we both miss about our life as dirt dwellers. The subject still comes up periodically and then we talk ourselves out of it for that very reason.October 29, 2019 at 1:56 pm#41430Brendan TourelleSpectator@sailability
Having Millie doesn’t actually prevent you from coming to NZ on a yacht, I’m guessing its the strict rules that swayed you against coming? I believe if the cat is Microchipped and has been Vaccinated for rabies at least six months before arriving in NZ can stay for six months. But in some circumstances they could be quarantined for some time. And of course the cost
