Millie has not been eating and has lost a lot of weight recently. We were worried and took her to the vet last week. The results were inconclusive, so we went to the animal clinic today.
She’s been diagnosed with stage two kidney failure (there are four stages, so she’s at the lower end of the scale, which is good). With the right diet she should be fine for a long while yet.
The vet said that for 11 she is doing very well and that the Hill’s Senior food we’ve been feeding her for so long has kept her healthy. Phew. Royal Canin Renal is now her diet and luckily we discovered today that she likes it.
We’ll be watching and coaxing her to eat and drink over the next few days and not moving from the marina here in Miri until we’re sure she’s on the mend.
Royal Canin’s available everywhere here, so we’ll be stocking up! Will continue to keep you posted. Liz X 😽♥️

Cheers, Danny, everyone’s been so sympathetic and we’ve had lots of lovely messages. ❤️

My previous two cats both died of kidney failure, so I have definitely been there. It’s a relief that you have the dietary option and that you can ensure it’s all Millie eats. Although she’s not going to be happy about the no fish scenario.

I know! I’m giving up fishing at anchor altogether…and may even give up trolling for the big guys. I can’t stand the idea of not giving her any, she’ll be devastated. Poor Little Moo. She’s loving her renal food, so we’re very lucky there. L x

I will be praying for her. She is my favorite crew member (Sorry Liz and Jamie) 😝
Fair winds and calm seas.
