Ahoy mates!
Please excuse the tardiness of this latest upload – we’re just a few hours away from leaving Miri marina and we’ve been doing the usual last-minute rushing around getting the boat ready. It’s been a bit hectic but editing this video has been a great antidote to 11th-hour preparations as we relax and take in the views of Nokok… from an outside toilet! Spoiler alert – we didn’t actually sit on the loo as it belongs to one of the villagers and I don’t think they’d take too kindly to strangers taking a seat atop their throne.
Nokok is quite typical of an Anambas village, with a walkway at the foot of the mountain and stilted houses leading off it into the clear waters. What was a bit different on this trip was a visit to the local school where we were treated to fresh coconut.
After a storm passes we attempt to sail through a narrow channel between two mountains but with building seas it got a bit sketchy…
