four Americans sailing Outbound 46 in the Carribean ,sailed one and a half miles  “by accident” into BVI waters  and turned around, but were stopped by customs who took  them, their passports, and boat for illegally sailing into their waters during covid restrictions and not going to a port of entry with documentation during Covid 19 restrictions…have been held eleven days in one hotel room awaiting trial and a twenty thousand dollar fine to be paid in cash only . So many times ,you did vids on finding immigration and port of entry offices and the proper documentation !  No port in the storm ie no port in a pandemic…is very scary .

It’s a worry. We have heard many stories of yachties being turned away from safe harbours, and others who have been arrested or their boats impounded. In some situations, the sailors could have made alternative arrangements but for many, we are bound by the seas and the wind. Making alternative arrangements is not always possible.

    Peace and fair winds!
