The Suez Canal Part 2

This is the second podcast recorded whilst transiting the Suez Canal aboard Esper. In this episode we leave Ismalia with a new, quieter pilot and make our way towards Port Suez. We encounter some fishermen in the Bitter Lakes, which enrages our normally subdued pilot, and Ian of ‘Rhumb Do‘ suggests lamb chops for dinner. It’s not what it seems…

  1. HI LIZ, JAMIE (AND MILLIE), HAVE JUST LISTENED TO THIS PODCAST, COULDN’T GET IT YESTERDAY FOR SOME REASON, SO LISTENED AGAIN TODAY. MY BROTHER IAN (RHUMB DO) TOLD ME I WOULD HEAR HIS DULCET TONES. IT MUST BE QUITE AN EXPERIENCE TO PASS THRO’ THE CANAL. I KNOW EGYPT, HAVING WORKED THERE QUITE A LOT BUT IN THE CAIRO, ALEXANDRIA AND NILE DELTA AREAS. NOW I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE I WILL TUNE IN AGAIN. ALL THE BEST FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP. BEWARE PIRATES.!!

  2. Excellent Podcasts, they are so much easier to follow than the writings, especially if you follow on Google Earth as I do. Incidentally, the Container Ships are 280m long and 40m wide.

I very much look forward to the next leg as you enter the main part of the Red Sea to Hurghada, those reefs and islands look inviting, you probably won’t want to leave!
