THE MEDREDRALLY

 

The MedRedRally began in 2005. It set out to bring sailors from around the globe the opportunity to explore and enjoy the diverse sites and cultures of the region. The activities were designed to help promote friendship among the participating yachtsmen and the hosting countries.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

"Organizing such a big rally, 80+ boats, spanning 3 countries and over 2600 nautical miles, is a yearlong effort. But, it is worth it when you see everyone having fun, meeting new challenges on the water and creating new friendships." Eitan Friedlander, Rally Co-founder. 

The rally is a great opportunity for sailors to experience the area and to go further than the usual summer coastal cruising routes. It offers an extensive list of places to visit along the way, from splendid natural wonders to stunning historical, archaeological and religious buildings and settlements. All the tours are organized by the MedRedRally team.

The MedRedRally 2008 starts at the beginning of May, with yachts meeting up in Finike to sail together on the 1st of May to Herzeliya Marina in time to join the special 60 year Israel Independence Day (Yom Ha'atzmaout) sailing event.  The yachts will spend a few days in Israel before the grand start of the rally which leaves from Tel Aviv marina. 

Marmaris Yacht Marina, a big supporter of the rally and one of its main partners, hosted the start of the rally last year with an opening ceremony in cooperation with the Turkish Tourism Office, an outstanding party and event. This year the marina is hosting the closing ceremony, expected to be as grand as last year. 

In addition to the main MedRedRally event there are also the MiniMedRed, the MedFunTurkey and the MedRedRace rallies.

May 08    - Israel's Independence Day - 60 years celebration and sailing event - Herzeliya Marina.
May 10    - Opening ceremony - Tel Aviv Marina.
May 11    - Grand start for all yachts from Tel Aviv to Port Said Egypt.
May 12    - Arrival Port Said - Welcome Party.

May 13    - Day tours to Cairo/ Alexandria.
May 14    - Transit through the Suez Canal to Suez city. May 15             - Depart to Tawila Island in the Red Sea.
May 16    - Arrival Tawila Island - 3 days of diving, snorkelling, sun and fun.
May 19    - Arrival Hurghada marina.
May 20    - Overnight tour to Luxor, visit Valley of the Kings, Luxor and Karnack temples, felucca race on the Nile.
May 21    - Return to Hurghada marina.
May 22    - Depart to - Sharm el Sheikh Welcome party Sharm el Sheikh.
May 23    - Diving Ras Muchamed
May 24    - Tour to St. Catherine
May 25    - Sail from Sharm el Sheikh through El Tur, Abu Zneima, Palm Trees and up the Sinai Peninsula
May 27    - Arrive Suez City
May 28    - Day Tour Cairo
May 29    - Depart from Suez city to Herzeliya marina
May 30    - Arrival Herzeliya Marina
May 31    - Welcome cocktail party Herzeliya Marina
June 01   - Day tours to Jerusalem
June 02   - Day tour to the Dead Sea
June 03   - 2 Day tour to Petra
June 05   - Day tour to Nazareth and Sea of Galilee
June 06   - Grand Start of MedFunTurkey Marina Herzeliya to Finike
