In Case of an Emergency
Put a number in your mobile phone directory of a person who can help a rescuer if you have an emergency. The name ICE will tell the rescuer who to call for vital information that could save your life. Yotties can change the details as they move around the world and, of course, if you should be attending an accident, look for ICE in the victim’s phone. |

Salty Tim’s Nautical Facts · We are all heavier at low tide. Because of the salt water content of our bodies, we each lose a fraction of a kilogram in weight with each rise of the tide, only to gain it back again when the tide recedes. · Monthly tidal rhythms, averaging about 29.5 days, are reflected in the reproductive cycles of many plants and animals, including the menses of human females. · Aristotle is said to have drowned himself because he could not explain the current in a channel of water off the island of Euboea in the Aegean. Scientists are still mystified by the current and can’t explain why it reverses its direction some 14 times a day. |

PC Doctor By A Guest Contributor….it could be you! |
|
Wi-fi Connection Having problems connecting to the internet? The Porthole readers have been sending in their own solutions to this computer age-old problem.
The ‘Cowrie’ Crew says “desperate times lead to desperate measures when attempting to connect to the internet on Juliet pontoon! If you are wondering how successful a bowl lined with tin foil is for this quest...very! However you do have to hold it over your head while typing and you do look rather silly!”
Meanwhile it seems that someone has been multitasking. “This is possibly the best hotspot in the marina”, he claims. Fair enough, but who took the photograph?
If you are a computer user and are interested in co-ordinating the PC Doctor column we would be very interested to hear from you. |
