Varnishing Tip

When varnishing in cold weather, or with old varnish, it helps to place the opened tin of varnish in hot water before using. This thins out the varnish, making it easy to apply and giving a smooth finish. Note: the tin must be opened and the water should not be allowed to come to the boil.

Additionally you will find that the varnish goes off (dries) much quicker after having been heated.

Try not to use thinners as this reduces the effectiveness of the varnish.
