Millie The Cat In The News

Yesterday we were visited by a camera crew. Apparently, in our absence over the summer, they ran a story on Nazer, the man who looks after our cat, Millie. Yesterday they returned for a follow-up story, so you should see us all in the news very soon – if you live in Kerala, that is! Below is the original story that ran some time this summer. I’m pleased to say those awful blue tarps are now off as we busy ourselves for our departure to the Maldives early next year.

  1. Nance, she also has followers in Newport Primary! Famous cat! I think Nazer may be an Indian cousin of my mother in law, and they share the “I am going to make you eat, and eat, and eat … And then eat some more” gene. :0

  2. Loved it! No translation needed. I had no idea Millie’s coat was so unusual in colour. Also she is clearly a culturally aclimatized cat!!! Must speak at least two languages by now. It must be both a shock and great to be back. Are you guys still planning on heading toward South Africa???
all the best 🙂 June xxx

    1. Hoping to, June. The plan goes as far as the Maldives in March, at the moment. After an extended sea trial, we should know if we are ready to take Esper to South Africa. If we do, then we should be there in November 2013. Otherwise it’ll be back to India, or even over to Thailand.

  4. Yes corpulent is the word I think, let’s hope the jogging will get that weight down or maybe she can catch her own fish in future. Ha ha.
    Here’s a cocktail for her:
    FAT CAT RECIPE
    1 oz Bailey’s® Irish cream
    1/2 oz amaretto almond liqueur
    1/2 oz banana liqueur

Fill mixing cup 1/4 full with ice. Add all three ingredients. Shake and strain into a shot glass or serve on the rocks.
If she does not like it you and Liz can check it out-there’a also a Ship’s cat cocktail with rum worth a try!

How delightful! Millie was one very fortunate cat during your absence! Has Liz ever considered writing a series of children’s books based upon Millie’s life and travels? Even her experience in India alone is fun and different! How many cats live on boats such as yours and travel as she has done? Her adventures beg to be shared! Kids would love them!
